Gavin Mills is a runner up in this term’s Creative Competition on the theme ‘Boundary’ for his poem, ‘On Moving On’.
On Moving On So it begins At this place of going out and coming in. We carry with us only dids and dones, And share them out when fathers farewell their sons. The morning goes. The bell at midnight chimes And it begins, Always, with tales of older times. And then it ends. The things we did, the things we did, old friends! But in the ringing of the midnight bell, It ends with all the stories we will tell. The morning comes. Fathers welcome their sons. It ends, it ends With myriad beginnings and beguns.
